Adventures in Food Rationing

It's Sunday. Two days into the Food Challenge. And this afternoon, ahhh...I feel better. My stomach was growling at me earlier. The single egg sandwich and cup of tea this morning lasts only so long. I had porridge for lunch. I'm waiting for the left-overs to cool down so I can put them into a tupper-ware container. I will eat the rest later on. I usually drink tea with milk. I discovered porridge with tea tastes pretty good. That way I can conserve the remaining milk for the upcoming week.

My plan of attack was to eat as little as possible this weekend. On Saturday, I had an egg sandwich and cup of tea for brekkie. Then I headed down to the Northern Aboriginal Festival. Everyone was eating Indian tacos and scon dogs. So, tasty at the best of times! My friends said, "John, here have some." Sorry, no can do. At night, I had 2 weiners, a bit of bread and treated myself to the can of mushroom soup and what was left of the donuts. I thought to myself, "Hey, this isn't so bad." On Friday, I had some baguette with margarine for lunch with a muffin. And for supper, 2 weiners and the rest of the loaf of baguette.

Rationing the food for the upcoming week is going to be a challenge. I've put the non-perishable items on top of the dishwasher to keep track of what I eat. The can of musrhoom soup - done. The package of soft cookies - finito. The bag of donuts and muffins - gone. The bag of muffins and donuts deserve special note. They got smushed at the bottom of the food box. And the medley of treats wasn't the most appetizing to look at. But, I tell ya...last night I finished the bag off down to the last crumb. I had comtemplated tossing it cuz it smelled a bit funky. The chocolate chip muffin French Cruller donut blend was delightful!

I'm going to make pasta tonight to eat for lunch at work tomorrow. Tom Reid over at Northern Flavours gave me some good tips on what to prepare. He suggested I put the tuna in with the KD, and make a stew with the tomato paste, weiners and I think he said cream of corn. Does that make sense? I'm a little worried about being irritable at work this week. And I'm sure my colleauges aren't looking forward to it, either. But, hey let's see what happens. Gotta go put that porridge away in the fridge now. That is if the cats haven't gotten to it already. Catch ya later.
