J. and A.'s Second Day

So we have reached the second day of the Do the Math Challenge. The food box that we picked up on Friday has been depleted quite a bit in one day, I have no idea how it would be expected to provide for two people for a week.
Here is a list of what was in the box:
1 baggie of instant coffee (Thank god we can use our own coffee!)
9 tea bags
1 bag of pasta (about a pound)
1 baggie of white sugar
1 baggie of white pre-cooked rice
1 baggie of instant oats
1 can of beans in sauce
1 can of green beans
1 can of tuna (this was the only can that wasn’t dented)
1 can of tomato paste
1 can of mushroom soup
1 small can of tomato sauce
1 tetra pack of soup
2 lb tub of margarine
1 box of crackers
1 package of wieners
6 eggs
2 boxes of macaroni and cheese
1 box of bran cereal (Just in case all the carbs plug us up!)
1 package of cookies
2 ltrs of milk
8 dinner rolls
2 muffins
2 cookies
3 loaves of bread (We only had one in the box but there was a box of stale but good bread at the food bank that we could help ourselves. So we returned the loaf of white bread and grabbed three loaves out of the free box.)
A. had been out all day Friday on her bicycle without eating and when she arrived she grabbed one muffin Then after a debate about substitutions we had soup and toast for supper. A. couldn’t eat the soup so I scored two servings. Bonus! A. stuffed herself with bread and was rewarded with a headache for eating too much wheat. I had the second muffin that tasted like fish for dessert.
This morning J. boiled two eggs and mixed up an egg salad with some olive oil. J. had half on toast for breakfast and made sandwich for lunch with the rest because he was going to an all day meeting of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union. (Food was provided but he stuck with his sandwich for lunch. He told the meeting about the Challenge and they wouldn’t let him close to the buffet!)
A. had two eggs and bread for breakfast, and then she had fish and more bread for lunch.
We both broke down and had an orange with breakfast. It was too hard not to have some fresh fruit. (Of course if this was for real we would not have that choice.)
J. came home hungry; he had cycled downtown to the meeting and decided to make a big meal. He opened the can of beans, mixed it with rice and half of the wieners. It all went into one pot and mushed together. We had it with toasted dinner rolls.
It’s certainly been a challenge and we certainly have not really experienced the fear of going hungry. When the box runs out we will have food. Even then we have wrangled over food in the box.
